A secure escrow service, built for horse deals.
Stop wiring money to strangers. Every Hoofine sale runs through regulated escrow: buyer funds are held until the horse arrives and passes inspection, then released — or refunded.
How it works
- 01 · Agreement
Buyer commits to purchase
Once the buyer clicks Buy on a listing, a PaymentIntent is created. Funds are authorized on the buyer's card but not yet captured.
- 02 · Funded
Funds captured into escrow
When both parties confirm the sale, Hoofine captures the payment. Money sits in our regulated platform account — not the seller's account.
- 03 · In transit
Seller ships the horse
Seller marks shipment, enters carrier and expected arrival. Funds remain locked. Neither party can withdraw.
- 04 · Inspection
48-hour buyer inspection
Buyer confirms delivery. A 48-hour window starts — enough time for a vet check. During this window the buyer can open a dispute.
- 05 · Release
Funds transferred to seller
If no dispute is raised, funds transfer to the seller's connected bank account, minus Hoofine's seller fee of 4.8% + €69.99. Done.
What happens in a dispute?
If the horse arrives misrepresented, injured, or fails a reasonable vet check during the inspection window, the buyer opens a dispute. Our moderation team reviews both sides and either refunds the buyer or releases to the seller based on documented evidence.
What does it cost?
Buyers pay a 3% protection fee on top of the agreed price, shown before funding. Sellers pay 4.8% + €69.99 from the payout at release (€24.99 fixed on sales under €2,000). No monthly fees, no hidden withdrawal charges — Stripe processes the underlying card payment.
Escrow questions
How does escrow keep my money safe?
When you buy, your payment is held by Hoofine — not sent straight to the seller. It is only released after the horse is delivered and you confirm it matches the listing, so your funds are protected until then. When does the seller get paid?
Funds release as soon as you accept the horse after delivery. If you take no action, the payment auto-releases to the seller after a 48-hour inspection window. What if the horse isn't as described?
Open a dispute during the inspection window. Hoofine's trust team reviews documented evidence from both sides before any money moves, and can refund you in full if the sale falls through. What does escrow cost?
Buyers add a 3% protection fee on top of the price; sellers pay 4.8% + €69.99 from the payout at release (€24.99 fixed under €2,000). There are no monthly fees, and seller-side fees are never charged on cancelled or refunded transactions.Does escrow work for international purchases?
Yes. Hoofine supports cross-border sales with multi-currency pricing, so buyers and sellers in different countries get the same protection.
