How the wanted board works

  • What is a wanted post?

The reverse of a for-sale advert. You describe the horse you are looking for in ordinary prose — budget, height, discipline, temperament, how far you will travel — and it becomes a structured request that sellers with a matching horse can answer. You stop scrolling other people's listings and let the matching run the other way.
  • Will sellers see who I am?

No. Every public read of the board goes through a query that structurally cannot return your identity — it is enforced in the code path, not by a setting you might forget. Your exact location is withheld too; only a general area is shown, so a seller can judge distance without knowing your address. You choose which replies to open, and a seller learns who you are only if you take the conversation forward.
  • Should I state my budget?

Yes, and it is the single field that most changes the quality of replies. A request with no budget attracts everything; a request with a real range attracts sellers whose horse is actually in it. You are not committing to the number — you are filtering out the fortnight of messages about horses at twice the price.
  • What if nothing matches?

A request stays open and is matched against new listings as they arrive, so a quiet week is not a dead end — it usually means the horse has not been advertised yet. That is the case the board exists for: the specialised search where the right horse appears months after you started looking.
